About Me

At the 2013 MSLA Conference in Sturbridge, MA with Jack Gantos.
I am a Library Media specialist at a preschool through fifth grade elementary school and a youth librarian a local public library. I have been teaching and working with children and students for the last 12 years. I am going into my 8th year as a Library Media Specialist. My background has allowed me to gain experience in a variety of different settings. I have worked with special needs students, English language learners and early education through adults. I love being in the classroom and watching students learn and grow.

One of the reasons I enjoy my position is that it allows me to work closely with teachers and students in all grade levels. It provides me the opportunity to incorporate technology skills and literacy. I think it is important for students to gain valuable skills in how to locate, find and appropriately use information. I love the "Maker Movement" and have spent the last several year incorporating this idea and thinking into the library. My library includes a Makerspace where I encourage creativity, risk taking and design. The students love it!

When I am not working at one of the libraries, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am a proud auntie of three fantastic kids, who I just can't get enough of! I also enjoying dancing, art, reading, writing and interior decorating. I love that the library allows me to interweave so many of my other interests into the space and content.
